I was lucky & grateful celebrate my 50th birthday in 2022; became a half century man

  • Some told me to write down my 50 learnings in life.

  • Others said please don’t spam us with your “gyaan”.

So, decided to just shortlist my top 5 life lessons @ 50

What else can these be but

(1) F - FAMILY FIRST (& Friends too)

Remember the line “Who will cry when you die” & read Robin Sharma’s book with the same name.

(2) I – INSPIRATION

We normally make a list of people who have inspired us. Why not make a list of those who we have inspired in both professional & person live.

  • Leave a legacy / “मिसाल बनो” (be someone’s idol)

Note - “We are known by the footsteps that we leave behind us, in the sand”

Special Tip - Positivity is contagious & inspirational. Ask yourself this Question - “Am I the most positive person in the office room today?

(3) F

(a) FIT & HEALTHY –

Health is the true wealth. And it’s a lot of hard work, especially after 40. Diet, exercise & meditation; all 3 are the critical pillars of good health.

Remember - High energy people always do better at work

Special Tip – Everyday – Wake up early – Go for a walk, hit the gym or do yoga & meditation.

(b) FUN

Don’t take life too seriously. Enjoy today - “कल हो ना हो”

Smile more, laugh more, have more fun; also laugh at yourself. Get the child in you outside more often

Special Tip - At work, everyone appreciates those with a good sense of humour

(4) T

(a) THANK YOU

Be grateful at all times for everything you have & to everyone responsible for that, while still working hard towards achieving more

(b) TIME

  • Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Mukesh Ambani, Nithin Kamath & you have one thing in common -  24 hours in a day.

  • Learn to value your time, learn to conserve time & allocate time for getting maximum RoT (Return on time)

Special Tip - On every Sunday, in advance, write down your plan for the coming week. Also make a daily morning ‘TO DO list’

(5) Y - YEARS ahead

Focus on making the most of the years to come instead of brooding about the past. My favourite line is –

“Today is the most important day of my life - it’s the 1st day of the rest of my life”.

“Carpe Diem - Seize the moment”

Special Tip - plan for the future with specific goals for health, wealth, success & happiness and then have the daily discipline of executing the action plans for the same.

Lastly a BONUS TIP after more than 24 years of marital bliss -

Argue less with your spouse. Makes wife happier, life easier & the companionship stronger
