𝑩𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒃 – 7 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓

Bhave Saheb is what I fondly call my father, whom I normally address as Baba.

Mr. Chintaman Raghunath Bhave (Shyam for family), has been an inspiration for me and still is, as he cheerfully interacts with all, from his hospital bed.

Being average in academics in his early days, he struck back with a double MBA later in his life post the age of 40.
 

(1) Lesson 1 - He gave me a lifelong love for learning.

While being employed in a semi-government organization, he took zero financial favours, even though he had to suffer with transfers and cancelled promotions.

(2) Lesson 2 - Integrity is a non-negotiable discipline in life.

He has always been a positive & cheerful person and has celebrated small joys of life. And I have hardly heard him complain either about his work or life.

(3) Lesson No. 3 - Have an ever-positive attitude & gratitude for what we have and celebrate life instead of looking at it as “a glass half-empty”

He has been an extremely healthy & fit person e.g. in his college days he had once done 1000 push ups (yes - one thousand), just to win a small bet and much later in life, at the age of 83, he had walked down all of 29 floors, during a power cut, just because I was waiting downstairs, for him.

(4) Lesson no. 4 - Simple yet difficult to implement lesson - Health is the true Wealth

After he retired in 1993 and even after my mother passed on in 2005, he has been living independently, doing all his work incl. cooking - he has always given himself a purpose & short-term goals.

(5) Lesson 5 - This has been my most important learning - having a purpose & setting goals.
It’s also something that I try to impress upon my young colleagues - by wishing them and helping them achieve all their dreams and goals in life.
